THE TRIUMPH OF THE GOLDEN GLORY is a tribute to pathos and opulence, and to the grand gesture as an artistic device. In their first collaborative work as a choreographic duo, Nora Elberfeld and Jonas Woltemate, together with an eight-member ensemble, celebrate the exuberant visual language of Baroque painting. The images are an expression of sensuality, dynamism, and vivid storytelling. They captivate, move, and unsettle, creating passionate scenes and complex compositions full of references and details. The piece transforms this painting into an opulent, contemporary choreography: no gesture is too grand, nothing too dramatic, nothing too much. What significance do motifs such as pathos, sensuality, and excess hold in contemporary art and society? Where do the boundaries of affection lie? Where do the boundaries lie between emotion and manipulation, emotionality and kitsch? The dancers create spaces filled with events and narratives, in which they, as a community, fill the beautiful appearance of form with substance.
